To Be Who You Are
As you and I face the challenge it can be to be who we are, there is much in the voices of Jesus and Mary that affirm this desire. One of my posts seems to have touched the chord of how passionate this feels to you as well as me. It may be an unending passion, but why not? Why not devote our lives to this call? It’s just what is being asked of us! To birth the new . . . starting with our very Selves.
So, in this season of the birth, while many of us move through its celebratory atmosphere, we can also take this time to remember that with the birth comes our “birthright.”
“God forsakes no people, but people forsake God when they give away their power and claim not their birthright. Your birthright is simply the right to be who you are, and there is nothing in the world that has the power to take this right from you. The only way you lose it is by giving it away. And this you do.”

I find myself redoing my office to a room for reiki. That was something I briefly tried years ago, but it speaks to me now.
When I was being trained for what I call “new school counseling”, our teacher suggested we get a client, charge nothing, and ask if they would work with us so we could practice – don’t worry about what you know, you will learn as they learn.
This worked then, and I hoped it was the perfect advice for now. I asked my granddaughter if she would help me practice. It was a leap to ask! And she said yes! I am listening to my inner sense of what you are calling my birthright to be myself.

I love that advice you were given, Fredi. It reminds me of dialogue. I’m guessing it’s one of those things that our Holy Ones say we “don’t know that we know.” I didn’t know what deep relationships gave … until I did. Then, in not too long, I realized I’d always known, on some level, that relationship was the ultimate place of coming to know. I could look back and see, for instance, that if my teachers connected with me, especially those who taught writing, I could soar! But friendship? Man. With good friends, I am who I am and nothing else . . . and vice versa . . . and it feels almost like a key that unlocks . . . everything!

I was just answering Fredi, and talking of friendship, and here you are, dear friend. (Two weeks ago, I know, but the timing is right.) We have lots of memories that we can continue let reveal ourselves to us. I’m so glad of that.
