Creating The New is not a massive undertaking, like a big project we need to take up. It’s about doing what we do each day in a “receptive” way. The “old” way overtly pushes us toward a predetermined course of actions and outcomes. Many are happy to encourage us to new end goals through old means. But the “new” way is naturally occurring.

Fr. Adrian, my just turned 80-year-old parish priest of many decades, speaks of never, ever doing something for a person that they can do for themselves. “I’m not a caretaker of people’s lives,” he says. “I’m there to facilitate and animate.”

The way I live is, I hope, like this. I “facilitate” (or make possible) the animation of a new way. I do it by sharing what passes through me. I, like you, can enliven Mary’s way, only as I share who I am in relationship with her—and you.

“The Course sought to teach you to develop a relationship with all that passes through you. Now is the time when the fruit of those efforts will be reaped. For what passes through you now is a relationship without end. What passes through you now is the eternal come to replace the temporary.” ACOL D:Day9.14, and D:Day 15.12
